AUSTRIAN TYROL

OUR AUSTRIAN TYROL TRIP TOOK PLACE OVER 1 WEEK IN MAY 2016 AND INCLUDED VISITS TO INNSBRUCK, SALZBURG AND KITZBÜHEL.

Loved this, my first trip with Shell Travel Club for many years! 15 years back my husband and I had many great holidays with them.  I am on my own now and my friend Janis and I were both welcomed into the group. We were more than happy with the travel arrangements, the hotel, great days out in beautiful Austria and we were looked after from morning until night by a very capable Anthony Jonas.  Not a single complaint – can thoroughly recommend.

The trip to the Austrian Tyrol far exceeded our expectations in all respects. Modern  well-equipped hotel, with good food and attentive staff. Great day trips ranging from visits to Innsbrook and Salzburg together with lake and train rides, plus taking the ski lift to the top of the ski run in Kitzbühel. Lucky with the weather - only 1 day of rain! Excellent value for money in all aspects.

Austria was lovely, wonderful picture book scenery and everywhere so clean and tidy.

We stayed at a good hotel in the small Tyrolean town of Kirchberg. We were definitely in the right place at the right time to appreciate a local fete day, with a procession of beautifully costumed residents in national dress. On our visit to Innsbruck we were rewarded by seeing a skier soar from the ‘Eddie the Eagle’ ski jump.  I loved the cog railway, the 2 lake cruises and the visit to Tratzberg Castle.

Although brollies were needed on our day in Salzburg we enjoyed retracing the Sound of Music and the 'Mozart' atmosphere.

The Austrian Trip in May lived up to the normal high standards and expectations that members have for their holidays with the club.

The hotel in Kirchberg was just right in terms of location size and facilities and the cuisine was first rate. Activities were pre-arranged for 5 out of the 7 days and varied from riding a narrow gauge railway, cruising on Lake Achen, viewing magnificent waterfalls and travelling by cablecar to the summit of Kitzbühel. Additionally an optional trip to Innsbrook was arranged, at a very reasonable price and facilitated by the most helpful coach driver.

As a (new) single traveller, I found the whole holiday experience most enjoyable. The comfort of being part of a group without feeling that I was imposing on others is a delicate balance that Shell Travel Club is brilliant at facilitating.
